Neal B. Colby, CPA, CEPA is a partner, chief financial officer, and chief compliance officer at CM Wealth. He is a member of the firm’s managing board and senior leadership team, chair of CM Wealth’s compliance committee, and a member of the firm’s client service and information security committees. He joined CM in 2014.

Neal leads the firm’s operations team, which is responsible for all back-office functions, including accounting, reporting, and reconciliations for all CM Wealth entities and for the firm’s clients. He is responsible also for much of the firm’s income tax work on behalf of its clients. As Chief Compliance Officer, Neal is responsible for ensuring the firm complies with applicable rules and regulations from the SEC and FINRA. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Ohio since 1997 and a certified exit planning advisor since 2022.

Prior to joining CM Wealth, Neal spent 15 years at a large regional accounting firm, where he worked with private companies and their owners to improve operations and to minimize income and estate tax liabilities. He spent five years at a large single-family office, with multiple responsibilities in client service, tax, and firm management. His work experience has focused on helping entrepreneurs and their families plan and manage their financial lives.

Neal is a member of the American Society of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs, as well as the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland. He is a past board member of a local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and Beatitude House, a shelter for women and children suffering from abuse. He is passionate about sports, current events, and dog rescue, and he enjoys a continuing quest to improve at golf.

Neal received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Akron and a master’s degree in accounting from Kent State University.
